Patients who have been edentulous (lacking teeth) for many years often struggle to keep their dental prosthesis in place due to bone resorption. Their challenges can often be overcome by having dental implants placed in either the upper jaw or lower jaw with overdenture prosthesis, an increasingly popular solution to this issue.

Overdentures are essentially dentures with attachments designed within them that would be placed over dental implants. Potential benefits of this type of prosthesis include eliminating embarrassing loose dentures and messy denture adhesives, and also a frequently dramatic improvement in the patient’s ability to chew food and speak clearly. Many patients have reported a higher degree of satisfaction with their teeth, greater emotional stability, and better general physical health after switching to overdentures.
